Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview of the data. While you identify some categories, the description of the trends is confusing and contains significant inaccuracies. For example, you state that 'travel' dropped to 3% in the second chart, but the data provided (if interpreted as a comparison of reasons) does not support this specific interpretation clearly. The report lacks a logical selection of key features; instead, it lists percentages in a way that is difficult to follow. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between the 'main reason' and the 'change in reason' and provide a more structured comparison of the data points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as starting a sentence with 'Crucially.' or using 'but there are also have been' which creates confusion. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when you refer to 'the charts' without specifying which one you are discussing. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two charts. Using a wider range of linking words like 'whereas,' 'in contrast,' or 'subsequently' would help improve the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'reason' and 'charts.' There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'dramatical changes' (should be 'dramatic') and 'it is also increased' (should be 'it also increased'). You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but the lack of precision hinders the clarity of your report. To reach a higher band, focus on using more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' and ensure that your word forms (adjectives vs. adverbs) are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The pie charts illustrates'), incorrect verb tenses ('there are also have been'), and punctuation errors (e.g., 'Crucially. the major changes...'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that you use articles and prepositions correctly. Proofreading for these fundamental errors would significantly improve the quality of your writing.
