The pie charts below show responses by teachers of foreign languages in Britain to a survey concerning why their students are learning a foreign language. The first chart shows the main reason for learning a foreign language. The second chart shows how many teachers felt that there has been a recent change in the reason.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

The two pie charts show the main reasons for learning a foreign language in Britain and the proportion of teachers who reported recent changes in these reasons.

Overall, it is clear that travel was the most common reason, whereas buying property overseas showed the largest recent increase. In contrast, learning for travel declined significantly.

According to the first chart, the travel was highest, at 33%, followed by business or work, which was at 26%. Furthermore, social contacts and personal development each accounted for 7%, while general interest had experienced 5%. Apart from this, he least common reason for learning foreign language was foreign partner, which was stood at 3%.

The second chart shows that 34% of teachers reported increased language learning for buying property overseas. Moreover, business or work and social contacts accounted for 19% and 15% respectively. Additionally, personal development and foreign partner both stood at 4% and general interest reported at 6%. Lastly, only 3% reported an increase, while 15% noticed no change.
