Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The report covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is somewhat confusing. You have correctly identified the highest and lowest values, but the comparison between the two charts is unclear. The prompt asks for a report on the reasons for learning and the perceived change in these reasons, but your description of the second chart is inaccurate in its phrasing, making it difficult to follow the data. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between the 'main reason' and the 'change in reason' categories, and avoid confusing the reader by mixing up the data points between the two distinct charts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is hindered by repetitive sentence structures and awkward transitions. Phrases like 'In first, chart' and 'In second' are mechanical and grammatically incorrect. While you use some cohesive devices like 'however' and 'whereas', they are often used incorrectly or with poor punctuation, which disrupts the flow of information. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your referencing (e.g., 'the first chart', 'the latter') is precise and consistent throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'reason', 'proportion', and 'accounted for'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'foreinge' and 'froeign', and word choice issues, such as 'main key' instead of 'primary reason'. You struggle to use precise terminology to describe statistical trends. To improve, try to incorporate more varied vocabulary related to data description, such as 'predominant', 'marginal', 'fluctuate', or 'constitute', and pay closer attention to the spelling of common words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, including issues with articles ('the travel', 'the first chart'), subject-verb agreement ('charts illustrates'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, such as the comma usage in 'travel which, accounted for'. The range of structures is limited to simple sentences, and attempts at more complex structures often result in errors that impede clarity. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your score.
