The pie charts below show responses by teachers of foreign languages in Britain to a survey concerning why their students are learning a foreign language. The first chart shows the main reason for learning a foreign language. The second chart shows how many teachers felt that there has been a recent change in the reason.

Overall, most teachers agree that the number one motive for learning a new language is travel. While the lowest number of the professors saw an increase in people learning for travel, the majority think that buying properties overseas is the reason that saw an increase recently.

33% of learners see that travel is the main reason for learning a language and only 3% see a recent increase concering that, whereas 19% do that for buying property overseas, the widest proportion of teachers, 34% of them, think that this exact motive has become more popular in thr recent year.
