Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The candidate attempts to address the two pie charts by referencing some of the key data points, such as travel dropping from 33% to 3% and buying property overseas increasing from 19% to 34%. However, the overall response lacks a clear and cohesive overview of the main trends. Furthermore, there are several misinterpretations or unnatural descriptions of the visual data, such as referring to categories as 'job members' or stating that travel 'crashed'. While some core figures from the charts are mentioned, the development is limited and the response does not adequately convey a professional report to a university lecturer. This corresponds to a band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text suffers from poor organisation and a lack of smooth logical progression. The introduction is highly convoluted and fails to properly set the context of the charts. Although the writer attempts to use transition markers like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly', the paragraphing is fragmented, with single-sentence paragraphs ('Firstly,As we see these both charts...') that do not function cohesively. Referencing is frequently unclear ('individuals who buy their assests overaseas where less at 19 percent'), and cohesive devices are often inaccurate or mechanically applied. Overall arrangement is disjointed, fitting the descriptor for band 4.5 to 5, and is comfortably placed at a band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and heavily restricted, with frequent spelling errors ('intreset', 'assests', 'futher', 'disscused', 'overaseas', 'patner', 'interset') and inappropriate word choices ('job members', 'crashed', 'lied'). While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary related to the task, the lack of precision and spelling control impedes readability and strain comprehension in places. The range is minimally adequate for the task, but lexical errors are noticeable throughout, warranting a band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying heavily on simple structures and faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are numerous severe grammatical errors and missing essential verbs, such as in 'These both charts we a dramatic difference' and 'foreign patner and general interset stated at 3 and 5 percent respectively and only got one percent higher.' Punctuation and sentence boundaries are poorly managed, with frequent run-on fragments. These persistent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and reflect a band 4.
