The pie charts below show responses by teachers of foreign languages in Britain to a survey concerning why their students are learning a foreign language. The first chart shows the main reason for learning a foreign language. The second chart shows how many teachers felt that there has been a recent change in the reason.

Overall, travel was the most common reason for learning a foreign language, whereas having a foreign language,foreign partner was the least common. In contrast, buying property overseas was the main reason associated with a recent increase, while travel showed the smallest figure.

According to the first chart, travel accounted for 33% of responses, followed by business or work at 26%. buying property overseas was another significant reason, at 19%. social contacts and personal development each represented 7%, while general interest accounted for 5%. having a foreign partner was the least common reason, at just 3%.

The second chart shows that 34% of teachers reported an increase in people learning for buying property overseas. business or work accounted for 19%, whiles social is 15% and equally no changes are 15% moreover, general interest show 6% however, personal development and foreign partner are equally show 4% at end travel only lowest represent 3%.
