Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by presenting an overview and reporting key figures from both charts. However, some parts are addressed more fully than others. The main features are identified, such as travel being the most common reason at approximately 33% and buying property overseas leading the recent increase at around 34%. Nevertheless, certain details are under-developed or vague, such as referring to 'middle part of this buying property overseas' and struggling to clearly explain the trends in the second chart. Furthermore, there is a minor omission regarding the 'no change' category in the second chart. While a general overview is attempted, the lack of precision in describing some secondary data prevents the task achievement from reaching a higher level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure dividing the introduction, overview, and body details. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty and mechanical. The progression of ideas becomes unclear in places, particularly in the overview where phrases like 'The remain categories occupied intermediate positions with noticeable different in magnitude. Other graph carried opposite direction' disrupt the logical flow. Referencing is also weak at times, with ambiguous pronoun use and abrupt transitions between sentences and paragraphs, such as 'While, personal development and foreign partner recorded lower values.' These mechanical links and occasional lack of clear progression place the response at this band.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'proportion', 'intermediate positions', and 'distribution', but this is offset by frequent inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and form. Examples of awkward phrasing and word form errors include 'learning other language by teachers majority cause', 'foregin partner' (spelling error), 'remain categories', 'tranfrom pattern', and 'bgy approximately'. While these errors do not completely impede communication because the general topic remains understandable, the noticeable strain caused by incorrect word choices and morphological slips restricts the lexical score to this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly involving missing auxiliary verbs, incorrect prepositions, faulty word order, and article misuse, such as 'The pie charts illustrates', 'In first common reason learn accounted in travel largest shares', and 'Travle was opposite segment in the first part they just carry hight but last decline at 3%.' Punctuation and sentence boundary issues also occur. Although some simpler structures are correct and communication is rarely completely blocked, the accumulation of structural errors and lack of error-free complex sentences keep the writing at this level.
