Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response identifies the charts’ general subject and notes that travel and business/work together account for more than half of the main reasons, which is a relevant comparison. However, the report is incomplete and does not accurately explain the second chart: it says business/work and buying property are the major reasons for change, although buying property overseas is highest at 34%, while business/work is 19%. It also claims the “small reason” remains foreign partner, without clearly distinguishing the two charts. Most figures and key contrasts are omitted, and the final sentence breaks off. The response is 34 words below the required minimum, which further limits coverage. Include a clear overview and accurately compare the leading and least common categories in both charts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is an attempt to organise the report by introducing the charts, giving an overview, and then beginning a detail paragraph. The use of “Overall” and “In the second pie chart” signals some structure. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the overview combines several ideas in a long, poorly punctuated sentence, and the final paragraph ends abruptly after “travel, business”. Connections between the two charts are not made clearly, and phrases such as “the both overview small reason remain same” leave the intended comparison uncertain. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, overview, and chart details, then sequence comparisons with clear links such as “by contrast” and “whereas”.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion”, “major reason”, “travel”, “business or work”, and “buying property”. These choices show an attempt to describe categories and compare their importance. However, spelling and word-choice problems are frequent enough to make parts of the report difficult to understand: “foregin”, “demostarte”, “sloid reason”, and “currenty changing” are examples. Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “abroad language teachers” and “buying property in world”. Aim for accurate chart-reporting collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, refer to “teachers of foreign languages in Britain” and “the proportion of teachers reporting each reason”.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, including “Overall, it was clear that…” and a clause beginning “while according to them…”. However, control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and several sentences are incomplete or difficult to parse. For example, “In the second pie chart provide detail that how many teacher the reason are changes” lacks a clear subject and has faulty clause structure; “In first reporting of learning…” is also unfinished. Articles, plurals, and agreement are often missing or inaccurate, as in “the both overview” and “how many teacher”. Punctuation is also weak, with missing spaces after commas and run-on sentences. Build complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles and plural forms.
