Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main reasons in the first chart, correctly noting travel (33%) and business/work (26%), and you also report several figures from the second chart, including buying property overseas (34%) and business/work (19%). However, the report only partially covers the task because it does not clearly explain that the second chart concerns teachers’ reports of recent increases, and it misinterprets “no change” as “15% learn for no change.” Some categories are also inaccurately described: 3% refers to a foreign partner, not spouses, and the second chart’s 4% is for foreign partners, not “international partner” as a separate reason. Add a clear overview comparing the charts and describe the second chart’s figures as reported changes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall structure: an opening, an overview-like statement, and separate discussion of the two charts. This helps the reader distinguish the sets of information. However, progression is not consistently clear, and linking words are often used mechanically or inaccurately. For example, “While” and “Whereas” introduce fragments rather than complete comparisons, while repeated “However” and “on the other hand” do not always show a genuine contrast. The overview also combines the charts without clearly stating what each one measures. Use distinct paragraphs for the overview and key details, and group figures by chart or by the most/least common reasons to make comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “social interaction,” “personal development,” “buying real estate overseas,” and “business or work.” These choices show an attempt to avoid repeating the chart labels exactly. However, some expressions are imprecise or unnatural for a formal data report, such as “Pick up the language,” “spouses,” and “running a business or work.” “Reporting of teachers presents” is also an awkward way to describe survey results. Prefer precise, neutral terms such as “teachers reported,” “learning for travel,” and “a foreign partner.” More consistent use of the chart’s categories would improve accuracy as well as clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using subordinate clauses and contrast markers, but the range of sentence structures is limited and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “While 7% acquire foreign language for social interaction and personal development” is a dependent clause without a main clause, and “whereas only 4% for personal growth” is also incomplete. There are frequent problems with articles and agreement, as in “learn foreign language” and “The charts provides,” and sentence boundaries and capitalization are inconsistent. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to follow. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, plural forms, and punctuation.
