Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the two main features accurately: travel is the leading reported reason for learning (33%), and buying property overseas is the most commonly reported reason for a recent increase (34%). You also note that foreign partners are the least common main reason (3%). However, the report is very incomplete: it gives almost no information about the other categories or meaningful comparisons between the charts, and the overview is not fully clear. The response contains 84 words, below the required 150; the 10 words copied from the prompt are excluded from this count. To address the task more fully, include the key figures across both charts and explain how the distributions differ.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic structure, with an introduction followed by an overview and a detail sentence, and the ideas remain focused on the charts. However, the response is too short to develop a clear progression through the information, and the second paragraph largely repeats the overview by restating the highest and lowest figures. Linking and reference are limited, while the phrase “the highest ratio of travel which teachers think” makes the relationship between the figures and the teachers’ views difficult to follow. Organise the report into an overview and one or two detail paragraphs, grouping related figures from each chart and using clear comparisons to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses some relevant vocabulary for describing data, including “percentage,” “highest,” “least,” and “recent changes,” so the topic is generally understandable. There is also an attempt at more emphatic phrasing in “crystal clear” and “at a fleeting glance,” although these expressions are not natural choices for a formal chart report. Several word choices and collocations are inaccurate, such as “highest ratio of travel,” “the highest percentage of travel,” and “buying property oversea.” Use precise, conventional language for chart descriptions, such as “the largest proportion,” “accounted for,” and “overseas property.” A broader range of accurate terms would make comparisons clearer and more academic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both a longer introductory sentence and shorter statements, but the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors recur in the longer constructions. For example, “the highest ratio of travel which teachers think that the most common reason” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “there has been a recent changes” has a singular-plural agreement error. The sentence beginning “At a fleeting glance” is also incomplete: “the highest percentage of travel 33%” needs a verb, such as “travel accounted for 33%.” There are additional issues with articles and sentence punctuation, including the extra spacing after full stops. Practise writing complete, controlled sentences that state each figure and comparison directly.
