Student answer (Band 6.0)
The two pie charts illustrate responses to a survey, by teachers of foreign languages in Britain, for investigating about the interest of their students to learn a foreign language. The first chart represents the percentage of the main reasons for learning a foreign language whlie the second chart clearly mentions the percentage of teachers about the recent change in learning for various reasons.
Overall, the comparison shows that the approach towards the specific reasons of studying different languages has changed substantially among the students and teachers. Previouslu it was reported that the most common reason among students, to show their interests in learning different languages, was their inclination towards travelling. While in the recent studies, it is observed that this this mind-set of students about the reason to study foreign languages is gravitated towards buying property overseas.
In the first chart, travelling has marked the most appealing reason to study foreign languages taking 33% of all the reasons collectively. The second most popular reason is marked to be the interest in business or work involving foreign groups. This holds a percentage of 26%, making it the second most concerning reason. The reason which has been ranked third is buying property overseas which shows 19% of the opine. the remaing four reasons did not carry a high weightage.
In the second chart, there is a dramatic change in the percentage of travel and buying property overseas. The travel proportion has dropped approximately 30%, whereas the buying property leads the race by 25%. Percentage of business has also decreased by 7%.Another important factor to consider in that there is no subsequent change in opinion of 15% teachers. It is very clear that the reasons for interest in learning language changes with the passage of time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main contrast accurately: travel is the leading initial reason at 33%, while buying property overseas is the most frequently reported reason for recent growth at 34%. You also include business/work and the 15% reporting no change. However, the overview says students’ reasons “changed substantially” without clearly distinguishing the first chart’s most common reasons from the second chart’s reports of recent increases. Some details are incomplete or inaccurate: travel fell from 33% to 3%, not by approximately 30% as a percentage; buying property overseas is 34% in the second chart, rather than leading “by 25%”; and the remaining categories are dismissed rather than summarised. Clarify that the charts measure different things and report the key figures precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs for the two charts. This makes the information generally easy to follow, and phrases such as “In the first chart” and “In the second chart” help signal the shift. However, progression is weakened by unclear or repetitive statements, particularly the overview’s repeated reference to students’ “mind-set” and the closing claim that reasons change “with the passage of time.” The comparison between the charts is not consistently explicit, and “Another important factor to consider in that” does not connect smoothly to the following point. Group the figures more systematically and use clear comparisons, while ensuring each paragraph has a distinct purpose.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for describing data, including “most appealing reason,” “second most popular,” “dramatic change” and “percentage.” Some less common expressions show an effort to vary your language, but several are inaccurate or unnatural in this context: “investigating about the interest,” “holds a percentage,” “the opine,” and “did not carry a high weightage.” Spelling slips such as “whlie,” “Previouslu” and “remaing” also reduce precision. Prefer standard chart-reporting collocations and use neutral language rather than figurative phrases such as “leads the race.” More accurate vocabulary would make the comparisons clearer and help you describe the data without awkward phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning “whereas” and “which,” and most of your meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless affect clarity. For example, “the percentage of the main reasons” uses an unsuitable structure, while “Another important factor to consider in that there is” is missing a grammatical link such as “is that.” The sentence beginning “While in the recent studies” is a fragment, and “the reasons … changes” has a subject–verb agreement error. Punctuation is also inconsistent, as in “7%.Another.” Work on complete sentence construction, agreement, and punctuation, while retaining your attempts at varied sentence forms.
