Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main contrast between travel and buying property overseas, and you include several relevant figures, such as 26% for business/work and 34% for property purchases in the second chart. However, some key data are inaccurate: travel is 33%, not 30%, in the first chart, and the second chart reports teachers’ views of recent increases, not a new distribution of students’ reasons. The claim that social contacts were “negligible” before is also misleading, as the first chart gives 7%. The overview is present but broad, and the final comments about preferences changing over time go beyond what these charts establish. Cover the chart categories more precisely and distinguish the two measures to make the report more complete and reliable.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, separate discussion of the charts, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the information. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weakened by long, crowded sentences and unclear links between ideas. For example, the explanation beginning “students mostly want to learn…” combines the travel figure with an unsupported reason about language being a barrier, while “Conversely” does not clearly signal the relationship between the charts. Repeated references such as “the below chart” and “this survey” are also imprecise. Use shorter sentences, group figures by clear comparisons, and use linking phrases only when their relationship is accurate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of vocabulary, including “diverse nationalities,” “overseas real estate,” and “major shift,” which shows an effort to describe the data in varied language. However, word choice and spelling errors are frequent enough to make parts of the report difficult to read. Examples include “recoded” for “recorded,” “lanuage,” “reasong,” “bvious,” and “interseted.” Some expressions are also unnatural or too interpretive for a chart report, such as “students taking keen interest” and “a shocking drop.” Prefer precise, neutral terms for reporting figures, and check spelling and collocations carefully. Reusing accurate chart labels is better than choosing a more elaborate phrase that changes or obscures the meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

There are attempts to use complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “as” and “while,” but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “the below chart display” has subject–verb disagreement, while “30% of students enrolled with this reason behind” is not a complete, well-formed description of the figure. Tense and agreement problems also appear in “it drop to 19%” and “it gain 15%.” Punctuation is unreliable, particularly where sentences run together, as in the travel discussion. Practise accurate simple reporting structures first, then add subordinate clauses; check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
