Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify travel as the leading reason in the first chart and mention buying property overseas, social contacts, business/work and foreign partners in relation to recent change. However, the report is very incomplete: it gives almost no accurate figures for the second chart, and the claim that social contacts show a significant increase is not supported by the data (15% reported an increase, while 34% did so for buying property). The statement that travel declined is also unclear and does not accurately describe the chart’s 3% reporting an increase. There is no adequate overview or systematic comparison of the two charts. The response contains 74 words, below the required 150; the nine words copied from the prompt are excluded from that count. Select the main contrasts and support them with correct figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence is followed by an overview-like statement and then a short discussion of individual reasons. Linking expressions such as “Over all,” “While,” and “In addition” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the comparisons are compressed into a few fragments, and the relationship between the two charts is not made clear. For example, “Recent time trave decline rose comparein teachers report” does not communicate a coherent comparison. The paragraphing and sequencing do not guide the reader through the data. Use a clear overview, then group the most important figures from each chart into logically ordered sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “foreign language,” “travel,” “business and work,” “buying property overseas,” and “increase.” This shows an attempt to describe chart categories and change. However, the range is basic and several word choices or forms make the meaning hard to understand: “dutys,” “report base,” “decline rose,” and “33 porportion” are unclear or inaccurate. Spelling errors such as “trave” and “incresed” also reduce precision. Some phrases, including “current report,” do not naturally describe the chart data. Build a small set of accurate reporting expressions, such as “teachers reported,” “accounted for,” and “the proportion reporting an increase,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both a longer opening sentence and a contrastive construction, for example “While, the current report shows significant increase…,” but the range of sentence structures remains very limited. Frequent errors in sentence formation and punctuation make several statements difficult to interpret. “Over all, it is clear that the teachers are report base” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “Recent time trave decline rose comparein teachers report it's 33 porportion” has unclear tense and clause relationships. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “shows significant increase.” Practise writing complete subject–verb sentences and separating comparisons into clear clauses. For example, state what percentage reported each reason, then use a separate sentence to describe the recent increase.
