Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The report covers both charts and gives a clear overview of the main contrasts: travel is the leading first-chart reason, foreign partners the least common, and buying property overseas the largest reported recent increase, with travel the smallest. Most figures are accurately selected, including 33%, 26%, 19%, and the matching 4% figures. This supports a well-focused account of the key information. However, the second chart is described as showing a “recent increase” for every category, although it also includes “no change” at 15%; the report does identify this figure, but could distinguish it more precisely from reasons for increase. Some descriptions are also repetitive rather than drawing out comparisons between the charts. A sharper synthesis of the two sets of results would strengthen the overview further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs describing each chart. This makes the information generally easy to follow, and sequencing from the largest figures to smaller ones is mostly sensible. Cohesion is less effective where linking phrases are mechanical or repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “Similarly” and “Another reason.” The phrase “On the one side” does not clearly signal the relationship between the charts, and “in this regard” has an unclear reference. The overview also repeats details that are developed again in the body. Use more precise links to compare the charts, and group related figures so that progression feels less like a list.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary is sufficient to report the chart categories and percentages, with useful terms such as “highest,” “lowest,” “percentage,” and “recent increase.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, including “reason,” “learning,” and “about.” Some word choices or collocations are imprecise: “huge audience” is not suitable for a percentage of teachers, and “social contracts” changes the chart’s meaning from social contacts. Spelling errors such as “precent” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise reporting language and vary expressions for proportions and comparisons; this would make the account clearer and more natural without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates its main points, but grammatical control is uneven and sentence patterns are mostly simple, with some attempts at longer structures. Agreement errors appear in “The given pie charts represents” and “Both pie charts shows”; the plural subject requires plural verbs. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction, as in “the percentage as most common reason,” and the opening contains an awkward clause, “a survey that why students are learning.” Punctuation and spacing around clauses and percentages are inconsistent. These errors do not generally prevent understanding, but they recur across the report. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build longer sentences from clear, correctly linked clauses.
