Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response identifies several relevant reasons, including travel, work and buying property overseas, and gives some figures accurately: travel is 33% in the first chart, property is 19%, and travel is 3% in the second. However, the report only minimally covers the data and contains a major misreading: work/business is 26% in the first chart, not the main reason, since travel is highest. In the second chart, buying property overseas is the leading reported increase at 34%, but this key feature is omitted, and the response incorrectly calls work the main reason. There is no clear overview comparing the charts or highlighting their main contrasts. Select the highest and lowest figures accurately and summarise the overall pattern before giving details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has basic paragraph breaks and attempts to move from the first chart to the second, using phrases such as “On the another hand” and “According to chart.” However, the progression is difficult to follow because the opening is unclear, the second chart is not introduced precisely, and several statements repeat the idea that a reason is “a factor of learning.” Connections between figures and their categories are also weak, so readers must work to understand which chart is being discussed. Organise the report into a clear introduction, an overview, and separate detail paragraphs for each chart. Use accurate references such as “In the first chart” and “By contrast, the second chart shows…” to make the comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses a small set of relevant terms, including “main reason,” “recent increase,” “business or work,” and “social contacts,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “the most of the business or work,” “buying property for the overseas,” and “Travelling has a tiny reason.” Spelling errors, including “differnt,” “learnung,” and “beacuse,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range for describing chart data: use “accounted for,” “was the most commonly reported reason,” and “the smallest proportion.” Check spelling and collocations, and avoid repeating “factor of learning” when a more exact description is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and longer constructions, but grammatical control is weak and errors frequently make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “This chart below give” has subject–verb disagreement, while “according to teacher is it 33 percent” has an incomplete and confusing clause structure. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent in phrases such as “the main reason” and “the social contacts,” and the opening sentence ends with the incomplete construction “in a survey concerning.” Most sentences follow similar basic patterns, with little accurate variety. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use comparative structures such as “Travel was the leading reason, at 33%, whereas…” Check agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
