Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify several relevant categories and report some figures accurately, including business/work at 26% and 19%, and overseas property at 19% and 34%. However, the response is incomplete: it gives no clear overall summary, omits foreign partners, and does not explain that the second chart includes a 15% “no change” response. The travel figures are also inaccurate: the charts show 33% and 3%, not 32% and 2%. Some comparisons, such as the one-point difference for general interest, are mentioned but not supported with the actual values. The response contains 126 words, below the required 150, which further limits its coverage of the task. Add an overview and accurately compare the main features.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response follows a basic category-by-category sequence, using “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Thirdly,” so the reader can see that you are comparing the charts. However, these transitions create a mechanical list rather than a clear report structure. There is no distinct overview, and the final categories are presented as separate fragments without a concluding synthesis. Some links are unclear, as in “General interest has not too much difference in both charts its only 1% difference,” where the relationship between the figures is not cleanly expressed. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview of the main contrasts, and grouped detail paragraphs. Use linking phrases to show comparisons, not just to number points.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary such as “percentage,” “highest,” “lowest,” and “difference,” and terms including “business work” and “personal development” help identify the categories. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “in first chart” and “in second chart” used repeatedly instead of more precise comparison language. Several word choices or forms reduce clarity, including “traveller” for the reason “travel,” “there students,” and “first chat.” Spelling and capitalisation are also inconsistent, for example “forst” and “britain.” Aim for accurate category labels and a wider set of expressions such as “accounted for,” “compared with,” and “the largest share.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences are short and follow a simple pattern, and the repeated use of “while” shows an attempt to compare information. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. The opening has subject–verb disagreement in “The pie chart illustrate,” while “The highest percentage is of traveller with 32%” is not formed clearly. Several comparisons lack articles or complete sentence structure, as in “Buying Property overseas the Second chart is at Highest with 34%.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also unreliable, with capital letters appearing mid-sentence and full stops separated by spaces. Practise complete comparative sentences, accurate agreement, and consistent punctuation.
