Student answer (Band 6.0)
The first pie chart illustrates the rate of educators who answer to a survey which was about their pupils' most common motivation for learning a new language. The second pie chart shows the percentage of the same teachers' reports on the reasons of their students who recently decided to learn a foreign language.
Overall, it is evident that most of the students choose to learn a new language to travel and many people recently started to learn foreing languages to buy property abroad or for their professional careers.
The most common motivation for people to learn another tongue is to travel somewhere, as it is visible on the first graph, where travel is the most popular cause with 33%. Following travel, second most popular cause is business purposes at 26%. Another significant reason to learn a new language is to buy acommodation in another country which makes up 19% of the all purposes and this makes it the third in that category. Other reasons such as general interest in language, to communicate with social contacts, personal development and having a foreign partner have insignificant rates in comparison to these three reasons.
But teachers also reported recently most of the demand forforeign language is caused by motivation to buy properties at 34% among the all reasons of raise in demand. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main pattern in the first chart accurately: travel leads at 33%, followed by business/work at 26% and buying property overseas at 19%. Your overview also highlights the strongest reported increase, property purchases at 34%, and contrasts it with travel at 3%. This covers the central features, but some details are incomplete or imprecise. In particular, you describe business as a large share of the recent increase without giving its 19% figure, and you omit the 4% for foreign partners and 6% for general interest. The second chart records teachers’ views of recent changes by reason, not simply the reasons of students who recently decided to learn. More precise coverage of that distinction and a clearer account of the smaller categories would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The report has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs describing the two charts. The progression from the leading reasons to secondary details is generally easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Following travel” and “Finally” help guide the reader. However, the final paragraph’s opening, “But teachers also reported recently…,” is awkwardly connected to the preceding paragraph, and some transitions make relationships less clear, particularly “While business still covers a large portion of the demand.” The overview also combines two chart findings without explicitly distinguishing the charts. Use more precise referencing and a small range of neutral comparison phrases to make the progression smoother and less dependent on repeated “reason” and “demand” wording.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “motivation,” “professional careers,” “social contacts,” and “personal development,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for a formal chart report: “rate of educators who answer to a survey,” “most popular cause,” and “lost is charm” do not express the intended ideas idiomatically. There are also spelling errors, including “foreing,” “acommodation,” and “forforeign,” which reduce precision. Some phrases, such as “another tongue” and “buy properties,” are less suitable or less exact than standard report language. Aim for consistent, accurate collocations such as “proportion of teachers,” “main reason,” and “reported an increase,” and proofread spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses beginning “as it is visible…” and “which makes up 19%,” and the main comparisons remain understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, however. For example, “the same teachers’ reports on the reasons of their students” has an unclear grammatical relationship, while “second most popular cause is” is missing an article. In “19% of the all purposes,” the article is incorrectly used, and “travel lost is charm” contains a faulty possessive construction. The sentence beginning “While business still covers…” is also a fragment because it is not joined to a main clause. Review articles, possessives, and sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
