Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main contrast: travel is the leading reason in the first chart, while buying property overseas is the most frequently reported reason for a recent increase. You also include several relevant figures. However, some data are misinterpreted: travel is 33%, not 34%, and this figure is not a change from 34% to 3%; the second chart reports teachers’ views of recent increases, with 3% for travel. The statement that travel had the “least increased” is also inaccurate, since it is the lowest category for increase, while “no change” is a separate response. The overview is present but unclear, and some comparisons are incomplete. Distinguish the two charts consistently and summarise their key patterns accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and a paragraph of supporting details. This helps the reader identify the topic and some key comparisons. However, progression is uneven because the account moves between the two charts without clearly signalling which one is being described. For example, “with 34% to 3%” incorrectly presents the figures as a change, and “no change cover the 15% of travel” makes the relationship unclear. Linking expressions such as “While,” and “In addition” are sometimes used awkwardly or repetitively. Organise the details by chart, or explicitly compare each reason across both charts, and use clear transitions to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “business work,” “buying property overseas,” “personal development” and “social contacts,” so the subject is generally clear. There is also some attempt to vary language with terms such as “dramatically decrease” and “significantly increased.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “the travel had the most common reason,” “the least increased in the individuals,” and “foreign partners had the smallest reason.” These expressions sometimes make the intended comparison difficult to understand. Use precise reporting language such as “was the most commonly cited reason,” “the smallest share reporting an increase,” and “teachers reported.” Avoid adding evaluative adverbs unless the figures clearly support them.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including contrasts introduced by “While” and “However,” and most of the response remains understandable. Nevertheless, errors recur in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement and articles. For example, “Overall, the travel had the most common reason” has an incorrect structure, while “buying property overseas are main reason” has a subject–verb agreement error and is missing an article. The phrase “personal development has fall” uses the wrong verb form, and “In the recent report.at last” has faulty punctuation and sentence boundaries. Practise complete, well-formed comparison sentences, checking agreement and tense, and use full stops and commas to separate ideas clearly.
