Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both charts and give a relevant overview, identifying travel as the leading main reason and learning for a foreign partner as the least common. Most figures are reported accurately, including travel (33%), work (26%), overseas property (19%), and the recent-increase figures for property (34%) and social contacts (15%). However, the second chart is not consistently interpreted: it reports teachers’ views of recent increases, not simply changes in the reasons, so saying travel “was decreased” and business “fell” implies a direct before-and-after comparison that the chart does not show. The overview also omits the key contrast that overseas property is the most frequently reported recent increase. Clarifying what each percentage represents and developing this comparison would make the report more complete and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of the main-reason and recent-change data. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and linking words such as “while” and “whereas” help show contrasts. However, the long final paragraph strings together many figures with commas, making relationships between them difficult to follow. Some transitions are also unclear: “rapid and recent changes” does not accurately signal that the chart records teachers’ reports of increases, while “by 1% difference” is hard to connect to the preceding figures. Use shorter sentences and group related categories, with clear references to the two charts, to improve progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “propotion,” “common,” “business,” “personal development,” and “social interaction,” and you attempt to vary expressions rather than repeat “reason” throughout. However, a number of word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “business inquiries” for business/work, “properties purchases,” and “clear communication for foreign partner.” Spelling errors—including “propotion,” “similair,” “oversees,” and “intrest”—are noticeable and sometimes make the intended meaning harder to identify. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling carefully. Phrases such as “teachers reported,” “the main reason,” and “a recent increase in learning for” would be more natural and accurate in this report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with contrast clauses, for example the sentence beginning “travelling has 33%” and the overview using “while.” This shows some range, but control is uneven. Several sentences are fragments or lack a clear grammatical structure, including “properties purchases made abroad at 19%” and “while for personal development and social interaction both at 7%.” The final sentence also combines many clauses without clear punctuation, and the opening has inconsistent article and plural forms (“a new languages”). These issues sometimes make the relationships between figures difficult to follow. Build complete sentences around each comparison, check subject–verb structure and articles, and use full stops to separate distinct points.
