Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the charts’ general subject and include a relevant overview: overseas property is associated with the largest reported increase, while travel has a low figure in the second chart. You also correctly give the change for overseas property as 19% to 34%. However, the report is incomplete and addresses the data only minimally: it stops mid-sentence at “Following the same pattern” and gives almost no comparisons or figures for the other categories. The second chart’s 15% reporting no change is also omitted. The response contains 96 words, below the required 150, which contributes to the lack of coverage. Develop a complete summary with the main contrasts and accurate supporting figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the report into an introduction, an overview and a detail paragraph, and the opening makes the two charts’ purposes understandable. However, progression is not sustained: the final paragraph ends abruptly with “Following the same pattern,” leaving the reader without the promised comparison or a conclusion to the data description. The overview’s contrast between property and travel is useful, but the body does not systematically group or compare the remaining categories. Some linking is attempted through “Overall” and “Regarding,” though the latter does not lead into a complete sentence. Use complete paragraphs and connect each selected figure to a clear comparison so the report develops logically from overview to details.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentages,” “survey,” “increased,” and “fell,” and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range is limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “forenign,” “ovearseas,” “proverty,” and “doble” make key chart terms harder to read. “Increased more that the others reasons” is also an awkward way to express a comparison, while “rised” is not the appropriate form. Aim for accurate, varied reporting language such as “accounted for,” “was the most frequently cited reason,” and “rose from … to …”. Proofreading the category names and using standard collocations would make the data description clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including “The first chart shows…” and the contrast introduced by “Overall.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent. The opening has a comma splice between “foreign language” and “it was reported,” and “The charts illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error. The phrase “Regarding to buying…” is not a complete, well-formed construction, and “buying a property overseas rised…” lacks a correctly formed verb phrase. The final sentence fragment, “Following the same pattern,” also leaves the structure unfinished. These errors make parts of the report difficult to follow. Practise complete sentence patterns for describing figures, and check agreement, verb forms, articles and punctuation before submitting.
