Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify two important features: travel is the leading reason in the first chart, while buying property overseas is the largest category in the second, and you compare business/work and foreign partners. However, the report is incomplete and only partially covers the data. The first chart’s travel figure is given as 30%, rather than 33%, and the second chart’s 34% for buying property is correctly reported. The overview also incorrectly calls foreign partners the lowest in both charts; travel, at 3%, is lowest in the second chart. Several categories are omitted, and the final sentence stops before completing the comparison. The response is also 48 words below the required minimum. Include a complete overview and select a few accurate comparisons to develop.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the report: an opening, an overview beginning “Overall,” and paragraphs introduced by “Looking first” and “next.” This gives the reader some indication that you are moving between the charts. However, progression is difficult to follow because the first paragraph does not clearly introduce the charts, and the final paragraph ends abruptly with “next travel.” Connections between ideas are also weak: “Whereas” and “conversely” do not consistently clarify the comparisons, and several figures are placed together without a complete sentence. Use a clear sequence—introduction, overview, then one paragraph for each chart—and connect comparisons explicitly, such as “by contrast” or “while.”

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “accounting for,” “proportion,” “share,” and “percentage,” and these show an attempt to describe numerical information. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spelling errors make the report harder to understand, for example “pice chart,” “height figure,” “expenditure figures,” and “foreing repsenter.” “Expenditure” is not an accurate label for reasons for learning, while “height” should be “highest.” Some phrases, such as “the students why take international learning,” are not clear enough to communicate the intended meaning. Build a reliable set of terms for describing reasons and proportions, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt a few different sentence patterns, including the contrast beginning “Whereas” and the comparison “buying property overseas increases from 19% to 34%.” However, sentence control is weak: the opening is not a complete, clear sentence, and “Whereas buying were the height percentage…” lacks a well-formed main clause. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “business work it's share decline slightly 26% to 19%.” Commas and full stops are often missing, creating run-on or fragmentary passages. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and punctuation. A small number of accurate, simple comparisons would be more effective than unfinished complex structures.
