Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response identifies two relevant headline features: travel is the largest category in the first chart, and buying property overseas is the largest in the second. However, it gives no figures and does not explain what the second chart measures, including the reported recent increase and the “no change” category. The statement that business “also follow” is too vague to show the comparison clearly, and the unfinished final line, “In terms of travel, in Britain,” leaves the report incomplete. The response contains 39 words, well below the required 150, so it cannot provide the overview and key details needed to describe the charts adequately. Include an overview and compare the main percentages accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the report: an opening sentence introduces the charts, followed by an overview beginning “Overall.” This gives the reader a small amount of direction. However, the response is far too brief to develop a clear progression through the data, and the final sentence fragment, “In terms of travel, in Britain,” interrupts the report rather than adding a complete detail. The link “While” does not connect the two chart features effectively in its current sentence structure. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key comparisons, and connect complete sentences with clear references to each chart.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “most common reason,” “travel,” and “buying property overseas,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is very limited, and several choices are imprecise or unnatural: “highest ratio” is not the best way to describe a chart percentage, while “travel experience” changes the meaning of the category “travel.” The phrase “business also follow” is also unclear as a description of the data. Use precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “the largest share,” and “was followed by,” and retain the chart’s category labels accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a simple introduction and an overview, but grammatical control is inconsistent. In “percentage of teacher reporting,” the singular noun does not fit the intended plural group, and “travel experience the highest ratio” is missing the verb “experiences” or a suitable alternative. The clause beginning “While” is not integrated into a complete sentence, and “business also follow” has an agreement problem. The final line is a sentence fragment. Because the response is so short, it shows little range beyond basic sentence patterns. Practise forming complete comparative sentences, checking subject–verb agreement, and using a full clause after linking words such as “while.”
