Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify travel as the leading main reason, at 33%, and correctly note that teachers reporting a recent increase for travel gave the lowest figure, 3%. These are relevant comparisons, but the report is far too incomplete to cover the charts: it gives no account of the other reasons or the remaining increase figures, and the overview does not summarise the main contrasts across both charts. The final sentence repeats the travel point rather than adding information. The response also falls short of the required 150 words; 29 words copied from the prompt are excluded from the count. To improve, provide a concise overview and select several key figures from each chart for comparison.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence is followed by an overview beginning “overall” and then a more detailed point. This gives the reader some sense of sequence. However, the report stops before developing that structure, and the final sentence largely repeats the earlier statement about travel. The opening is difficult to follow, while the transition “looking at the data on more detail” does not lead to a clear comparison or further evidence. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, overview and key details, and connect the two charts explicitly—for example, contrast the most common reason with the reason showing the greatest reported increase.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “proportion,” “most common reason” and “recent increase,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is narrow and several phrases are inaccurate or awkward, such as “students who learning foreign languages … to a survey concerning” and “the common reasone.” “Biggest reason” is understandable but informal for an academic report, and “reporthing” contains a spelling error. These choices make parts of the report harder to read and limit precision. Aim for accurate chart language and natural collocations, such as “the largest share,” “teachers reported” and “the proportion reporting an increase.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both a complex opening and a comparison, and the sentence beginning “overall, it can be seen” shows an effort to summarise the data. However, sentence structures are limited and several errors interfere with clarity. In “students who learning,” the verb form is incomplete; “to a survey concerning” is not grammatically connected to the rest of the sentence. The phrase “the proportion of teachers reporthing recent increase” also lacks a correctly formed verb phrase and article. Capitalisation at the start of “overall” and punctuation between ideas need attention. Practise building clear subject–verb sentences first, then add comparisons with accurate clauses, such as “Teachers reported that travel was the most common reason.”
