Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both attitudes by noting that work develops skills and supports daily life, while hobbies provide relaxation and balance, and your preference for hobbies is apparent in statements such as “I am strongly agree with that.” However, the discussion is uneven: the reasons for prioritising work receive little explanation, and your own position shifts between partial agreement with work’s importance and strong support for hobbies. Several claims, such as hobbies helping remove diseases, need clearer explanation or a more relevant example. To strengthen the response, state your view consistently in the introduction and conclusion, then develop each attitude with a specific, explained example and make the comparison between them explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a recognisable beginning, discussion of both work and hobbies, and a concluding sentence, so the reader can identify the broad topic and your main points. However, ideas are not grouped into clear paragraphs, and progression is difficult to follow: the response moves from work’s benefits to hobbies, then back to work’s drawbacks and again to hobbies without a clear structure. Connectors such as “Besides” and “On the contrary” do not always show the relationship between the ideas that follow them. Some references are also unclear, as in “If minds are refreses it will eventually refreshes a mind.” Organise the essay into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for the two attitudes, and a conclusion; use linking phrases only when their logical relationship is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “skills,” “expertise,” “balance,” “stamina,” and “peaceful,” and you give examples of hobbies such as gardening and reading. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make meaning less clear. For instance, “more enjoying to their hobbies,” “remove our montonus day,” and “boost out mind” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors such as “Nowadys” and “refreses” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing work and leisure, and check spelling and word forms. Using natural expressions such as “take greater pleasure in,” “break the monotony,” and “refresh the mind” would make your points clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons, including “Since hobby contributing to relax our mind and give us peace.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur throughout. Examples include “I am strongly agree,” “hobby is also need,” and “a peaceful mind can helps.” The opening fragment “Because work can help…” is not joined correctly to the preceding sentence, while “both work and hobby is important” has an agreement error. These patterns sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Practise forming complete sentences and checking subject–verb agreement and verb patterns; then use a few accurate complex sentences to explain cause and effect.
