Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 176 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both attitudes and provides an opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The ideas are presented in a very simplistic manner, and the conclusion is incomplete, failing to fully synthesize the arguments. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full discussion of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses basic paragraphing, but the logical progression of ideas is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the awkward transition 'in additional' and the repetitive use of 'and'. The relationship between sentences is often unclear, making the text difficult to follow at times. To improve, you should use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'however') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'work', 'fun', and 'hobby'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'crazy about fun' and 'life line for human beings'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas or nuanced arguments. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and improve the precision of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The grammar is characterized by frequent errors in sentence structure, verb tense, and article usage, such as 'some people only having interest' and 'if they having no interest'. The essay relies almost exclusively on simple sentence structures, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several errors in comma placement. To improve, you should practice constructing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions and focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage.
