Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While you mention the importance of money and dedication, the arguments lack depth and nuance. The example of your cousin is relevant but could be better integrated to support the broader point about work-life balance. To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides a more thorough exploration of the 'why' behind these attitudes, rather than just stating that one is better than the other. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and could more effectively synthesize the two perspectives discussed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, phrases like 'beside that' and 'in fact' are used somewhat awkwardly. There are also issues with referencing; for instance, 'this thing' and 'this' are used to refer to broad concepts, which can make the logical flow feel disjointed at times. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to specific nouns would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is frequent repetition of basic words like 'work', 'important', and 'people'. Some word choices are unnatural, such as 'curios person' instead of 'curious' or 'passionate', and 'leisure about hobbies'. There are also several spelling and collocation errors, such as 'full fil' (fulfill) and 'there' used instead of 'their'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise synonyms and learning common collocations related to professional and personal life.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some people believes'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. The misuse of 'there' vs 'their' is consistent, and sentence fragments or run-on sentences occasionally impede clarity. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of possessive pronouns, before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
