Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that people give most of the priority to their job, and have less interest in anything else. While, others are more enthusiastic about their hobbies than their job. In my opinion, this essay will discussed both the views before giving any opinion.

To begin with, work plays significant role for people. This is because it fulfill all the necessary requirements and expenses in individual life, and without any employment status, people will lack to purchase their needs, wants, and desire. For instance, people spent most of their life in doing job and earning money, as a result they give less priority on other factors such as personal life, and hobbies. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of ideas. While the essay introduces both perspectives, it fails to complete the discussion or provide a coherent conclusion. The arguments presented are underdeveloped and the essay ends abruptly mid-sentence. Because the response is incomplete and fails to address the prompt fully due to the lack of length, it cannot reach a higher band. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full introduction, two well-developed body paragraphs with supporting examples, and a clear conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with' and 'On the other hand' to signal structure. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the second paragraph is cut off, making it impossible to evaluate the overall logical flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'So, this are the main causes', where the pronoun reference is imprecise. To improve, focus on completing your thoughts within each paragraph and using a wider variety of linking words to connect your arguments more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'give most of the priority to their job' instead of 'prioritize their careers' and 'fulfill all the necessary requirements' which is vague in this context. Spelling is generally accurate, but the limited length prevents the demonstration of a wider, more sophisticated vocabulary. Focus on learning collocations related to work-life balance to enhance your lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'this essay will discussed' (incorrect verb form), 'work plays significant role' (missing article), and 'this are the main causes' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is generally functional, but the overall control of grammar is inconsistent. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, article usage, and ensuring that verb tenses are used correctly throughout your sentences.
