Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, work is the most important thing in rapid world. Some people think that work is more important things in life and have little interest in anything else, While, other people are more interested about their hobbies and travel than. In my opinion, work is important but not that we forgot our hobbies and leisure for that. Discuss both opinion in upcoming paragraph.

On the one hand, people say work is more important than any other activity. I believe that work is most important thing in life. Everyone doing some work related to their skills and hobby. If we do not work so we not earning money, it is a important thing for living life and enjoy. In addition, without work we can not imagine our life because if we not have any work so we feel bored and become lazy. Moreover, it increase our overthinking problem or make us underconfident. If we focus more in work so we get master skills in work but not enjoying our life that we have to.

On the other hand, some people enjoy their work and also their hobbies and leisure. This people are more happier than who only focus on work instead of not in hobbies or travelling. It is good idea to give some interest in our hobbies because some time our brain want relax and peace. If we go for travelling and fulfil our hobbies it gives our peace. In opposite, if we more focus on travelling and our hobbies it become dangerous for our job because our mind can not focus in work, brain always think about country and places for travelling.

In conclusion, both discuss have their advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, we should have to focus in both we have to work in Monday to Friday than in weekends we have to fulfill our hobbies and leisure.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument that work prevents 'overthinking' or 'laziness' is a valid point but lacks depth and specific examples. The conclusion is a bit simplistic, suggesting a rigid 'Monday to Friday' schedule rather than exploring the nuance of work-life balance. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations and concrete examples rather than relying on general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In opposite' (should be 'Conversely') and 'This people' (should be 'These people') disrupt the flow. Furthermore, the transition between ideas within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. While there is a logical progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional misuse of referencing make the cohesion feel somewhat repetitive and basic.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive words such as 'important', 'work', and 'good'. There are also noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'rapid world' (likely meant 'fast-paced world') and 'get master skills' (should be 'master skills'). To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and to express your ideas with greater nuance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('This people are', 'it increase'), missing articles ('a important thing'), and awkward sentence structures ('if we not have any work so we feel bored'). While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often faulty, which limits your control. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that articles are used correctly before nouns.
