Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the prompt and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. The argument for work being the most important aspect is supported by a personal example, but the explanation lacks depth and relies on generalizations. The discussion of hobbies is also brief and lacks a strong connection to the prompt's requirement to discuss the 'enthusiasm' people feel for them. While the task is addressed, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended and supported with more sophisticated reasoning to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Secondly', 'On the flip side', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition between the importance of money and the example of the actor is abrupt. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall flow could be improved with more varied and sophisticated linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'intrest', 'enthusistic', 'ting', 'everyting', 'thids', and 'genration'. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on common words like 'important', 'work', and 'life'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and the frequent spelling mistakes hinder the overall quality. To improve, you should focus on using more varied synonyms and ensuring accurate spelling of common academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'in the life', 'feed ourself', 'proudly life', and 'can easily success'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and affect the fluency of the writing. A greater focus on sentence construction, verb forms, and proofreading for basic grammatical slips would significantly improve the score.
