Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 157 words long. This significantly impacts the development of the response. While you have identified both sides of the argument and provided a personal opinion, the ideas are underdeveloped. For example, the discussion on the importance of work is brief and lacks specific examples or depth. To achieve a higher band, you must expand your arguments with detailed explanations and concrete examples to fully address all parts of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into two short paragraphs, but the lack of length prevents a clear, logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In the contrast' (which is grammatically incorrect) and 'Furthermore', but the overall flow is somewhat mechanical. The paragraphing is insufficient for an essay of this type. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that you use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more naturally and effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use repetitive phrases like 'activities of life' and 'fun activities'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'give a lot of importance to their employment'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'professional fulfillment', 'work-life balance', or 'recreational pursuits', and ensure you are using words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'Employment is a essential' (article error), 'It provide you funds' (subject-verb agreement), and 'an goal' (article error). Additionally, the phrase 'In the contrast' is an incorrect collocation. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation limit the score. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage to improve your accuracy.
