Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you identify both attitudes, the discussion is underdeveloped and lacks a clear, consistent opinion. The final paragraph is incomplete, ending abruptly with 'for example', which prevents a full exploration of the second viewpoint. To improve, you must ensure each argument is supported by detailed examples and that your own position is clearly stated and maintained throughout the essay. The current length and lack of a conclusion mean the task is only partially addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay uses basic paragraphing, but the logical flow is hindered by the incomplete nature of the final section. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'for example' and 'because'. There is a lack of sophisticated transition between ideas, making the progression feel disjointed. To achieve a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to the main prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'happy', and 'work'. There are also issues with word formation and collocation, such as 'form work' (instead of 'through work') and 'mentality' (used incorrectly to mean mental health). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'professional development', 'work-life balance', or 'recreational pursuits', and focus on using words in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('worker are less attacked', 'most of farmers are healthy') and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, and proofread carefully to correct basic errors in articles, plurals, and verb tenses.
