Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people regard work as the most important thing in their life and some are more enthusiastic about their hobbies because it depends on the mindset of a particular person. In comparison to other the people who regard work as the most import thing in their life might have a goal to achieve something big for themselves or his/her family. On the other hand the people who gives time to their hobbies might be happy with what they have in their life. There are some reasons or problems which change the mindset of a person. A person who regard work as the most import also have hobbies but at the most important stage of his/her life they give all of their time to their work. After a certain age they regard their whole life enjoying and giving time to their hobbies because they have worlied hard for it in the past. we can't say that the people who are giving more time to their hobbies are not interest in doing any work. There can be reasons for that as well. They might not want to do a job or they have to master their hobbies and do something in that feild it's their own opinion and desicion. Everyone in their life has a dream of becoming a sucessful person no matter they have to anything for it.The person who gives all of his time to his work also has a future plan and it goes same for the person more enthusiastic for their hobbies as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that work-focused individuals may have goals and hobby-focused individuals may be content, these points are not fully extended with specific examples or evidence. Furthermore, your own opinion is not clearly stated or developed; you mention that it is a matter of 'mindset' and 'decision,' but you do not explicitly argue which approach you find more balanced or beneficial. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and provides concrete examples to support your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks clear paragraphing, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. The text is presented as a single block, which is a significant weakness in academic writing. While you use some cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'In comparison to,' the flow between sentences is often repetitive and sometimes mechanical. To reach a higher band, you must organise your ideas into distinct paragraphs: one for the work-focused view, one for the hobby-focused view, and one for your own opinion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'something big' and 'giving time to.' There are also several spelling errors, such as 'import' instead of 'important,' 'worlied' instead of 'worked,' 'feild' instead of 'field,' and 'sucessful' instead of 'successful.' To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure you proofread your work to eliminate basic spelling mistakes that distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the people who gives time'), incorrect pronoun usage ('his/her family' followed by 'his'), and awkward phrasing ('no matter they have to anything for it'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
