Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as the discussion on professional identity versus the need for mental outlets. However, the development is occasionally hindered by imprecise phrasing, such as the vague conclusion regarding 'high profession fields'. To reach a higher band, ensure that the supporting examples are more explicitly linked to the prompt's core question about the balance between work and leisure. The position is consistent throughout, but the final paragraph could be more effectively integrated to reinforce the main argument rather than simply summarizing the points already made.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or the referencing is unclear, such as in the sentence 'those who view as the central focus of their lives', where the object of the verb is missing. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel slightly abrupt. Improving the variety and precision of cohesive links would help the essay achieve a more natural and fluid progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts at topic-specific terms like 'financial stability', 'professional milestone', and 'holistic fulfilment'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'high level dedicated' (should be 'dedication') and 'contributed significantly well being' (missing 'to'). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the use of 'hard circumstance' is imprecise. To improve, focus on using collocations more accurately and expanding the range of vocabulary to include more sophisticated, less common lexical items that are used with greater precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'hobbies are recreational activities contributed') and article usage. Some sentences are structurally incomplete or confusing, such as 'maintain a healthy balance ideal life schedule give a better value'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects and that sentence structures are complete and logically connected.
