Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 209 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the conclusion is incomplete and the arguments are underdeveloped. While the essay attempts to address both sides of the prompt, the lack of depth and the failure to clearly state an opinion throughout the essay limit the score. The ideas presented, such as working like machines or prioritizing hobbies for mental peace, are relevant but lack sufficient supporting evidence or detailed explanation to fully satisfy the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow is hindered by awkward transitions and repetitive phrasing. For instance, the opening sentence is grammatically disjointed, and the transition 'Along with this' is used in a way that does not effectively connect the ideas. While there is a basic attempt at logical progression, the lack of a complete conclusion and the abrupt ending make the overall structure feel unfinished. Cohesive devices are present but often used incorrectly, which disrupts the logical flow of the arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'money minded' instead of 'career-oriented', 'plum position' (likely intended as 'plum job' or 'prestigious position'), and 'staples environment' (likely 'stable'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. Spelling errors, such as 'exempilify' and 'hea' (incomplete), further detract from the quality of the writing. To improve, you should focus on learning collocations and using more academic terminology appropriate for an IELTS essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people... wants to achieve'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'getting frustrate'), and misuse of prepositions and articles. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. For example, 'In today modern era people living styles are more hectic' is grammatically incorrect. The lack of control over basic sentence construction and the presence of numerous errors in almost every sentence prevent a higher score.
