Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is limited. For instance, the paragraph on work relies on repetitive phrasing like 'success is very important' and 'provide the better life' without offering specific examples or deeper analysis. The arguments are somewhat superficial, and the explanation of how hobbies contribute to well-being is also quite basic. To reach a higher band, you need to extend your ideas with concrete examples or logical reasoning rather than repeating similar points. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the internal cohesion within paragraphs is often weak. Sentences are frequently disjointed, and the use of linking words is sometimes repetitive or mechanical (e.g., 'Later on' is used twice in a way that does not logically connect the ideas). The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive devices to create a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on simple, repetitive words such as 'important', 'life', and 'provide'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'very greatful in the life' and 'different different typer'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in word formation and collocation limit the score. To improve, focus on using more academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Many sentences have issues with subject-verb agreement and word order, such as 'While to other think that enthusiastic about...' and 'the work is provide the more success'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and there are several instances of missing articles or incorrect verb forms. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to distract the reader. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement.
