Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both attitudes regarding work and leisure, and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction, body, and conclusion. Ideas are relevant, such as the discussion on career success and stress relief. However, the development is somewhat limited and relies on generalised or repetitive statements. For instance, the example of a friend is underdeveloped and contains vague claims. The conclusion also slightly contradicts itself by stating first that work is the most important part of life and then immediately calling for a balanced routine. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the Band 6 profile for task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into four paragraphs, providing a logical overall structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. There are noticeable mechanical errors in linking phrases, such as 'Accordingb to the first school of thought', 'While on the other hand', and 'In conclusion, work is the most importsnt part of our lives. While on the other side'. Paragraphing is present, but referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronoun agreement issues like 'Those peoplr who have an intrest to become financialy well developed, he must giving his best'. The logical progression is somewhat hindered by these repetitive cohesive flaws, placing the text firmly at Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses a sufficient range of vocabulary to attempt the task, with words related to careers and hobbies like 'financial stability', 'advanced society', and 'stress relief'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors that occur throughout the text, including 'may opinion', 'Accordingb', 'peoplr', 'intrest', 'financialy', 'freinds', 'favroite', 'loss our stress', and 'importsnt'. These errors occasionally draw attention, though communication is generally not impeded. Less common items are attempted with some inaccuracy, which aligns with the Band 5 descriptors for lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and sentence structures. Examples include 'every person should need to work hard and constant', 'he must giving his best', 'now he become a well known business', 'these hobbies are become an important part', and 'these hobbies helps us to reduced our stress'. Many attempts at complex structures result in faulty grammar. Although the meaning remains understandable, the density of errors causes frequent difficulty for the reader, pointing to a Band 5 score.
