Student answer (Band 5.0)

There is a moto of Pakistan's founder Quaid Azam Muhammad Ali:

"WORK WORK AND WORK"

Most people are passionate about their career and work really hard to achive their goals but also continue their hobbies in a spare time. While some are more passionagte to their hobbies and find relaxation in their jobs.

On the one hand, The people who are more concern and enthusiastic to work are way more stable in their career. Being honest with their jobs and mange the rest time in other little hobbies are way more discipled. For example, Working all day and proving your knowledge by working hard leads you to impress the boss and get instant promotion.

On the other hand, some are more intented to achive from their hobbies rather then proving themself again and again in the co-operate sector where thereis a culture of legpulling. Not just being rely on the salary, they pay attention on theri other skills that may help to achieve their goals more efficicently and fast.

For example, sticking to your seat and working really hard in actual leggpulling culture may caause us to loss our hobbies and skills.

According to my point of view, I totally disagree with notion. I believe not to letting jobs to take our skills and hobbies away from us. Salary is kind a slow poisoning, we spend our years in working 9 to 5 and loss the won't get quality time with family and friends. Smartwork with little bit of hardword is waymore sufficient

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both work-centric attitudes and hobby-centric perspectives, alongside a clear personal opinion. The student attempts to develop ideas such as career stability versus the corporate 'legpulling' culture and the risk of losing personal interests. However, the arguments remain somewhat underdeveloped and over-generalized, particularly in the body paragraphs and the conclusion, which is somewhat contradictory to the prompt's initial premise regarding work-obsessed individuals. Specific examples lack concrete depth, such as the mention of impressing a boss or a toxic culture. These limitations place the performance at a Band 5.5, which aligns most closely with Band 6 descriptors for partial task coverage and under-developed ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an overall awareness of paragraph structure. However, logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, abrupt sentence structures, and a somewhat unclear introductory premise. Cohesive devices are minimally and sometimes inappropriately used, as seen in phrases like 'On the one hand' followed by weak linkage. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'proving themself again and again'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is faulty and mechanical. These features reflect the Band 5.0 descriptor, where organisation is present but overall progression is unclear and cohesive devices are inadequate or inaccurate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts to use less common vocabulary and idiomatic concepts, such as 'co-operate sector', 'legpulling culture', and 'slow poisoning'. However, these attempts are frequently marred by spelling errors ('moto', 'achive', 'passionagte', 'concern', 'discipled', 'intented', 'efficicently', 'hardword', 'waymore') and inappropriate word choices ('slow poisoning' used to describe a salary). The range of vocabulary is limited and mechanical, with noticeable spelling and word-formation errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. This directly corresponds to the Band 5 descriptor, where the range is limited and errors cause some strain.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The people who are more concern', 'that may help to achieve'), incorrect prepositions ('in a spare time'), fragment sentences ('WORK WORK AND WORK'), and punctuation slips. Complex structures are often faulty and cause frequent difficulty for the reader. This performance aligns with the Band 5 descriptor, characterised by a limited range of structures, attempts at complex sentences that are often faulty, and frequent errors.
