Student answer (Band 5.5)
MAJOR PART OF SOCIETY CONSIDER WORK AS THERE LIFE, AND LOSSES INTREST IN OTHER ACTIVITIES HOWEVER OTHER PART OF SOCIETY ARE MUCH ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THERE HOBBIES AND LEISURE THEN JOBS BOTH THE POINTS ARE DISCUSED IN FORCOMING PARAGRAGHS ALONG AN ENCLOSING OF MY OPINION .
TO COMMENCE WITH THE MOTION , FIRST FACTOR TO SUPPORT IS THAT PEOPLE ASSUME THAT WORK IS WORSHIP, FOR INSTANCE ACCORDING TO A SURVEY DONE IN ASIAN COUNTRIES SHOWS PEOPLE PREFER WORK OVER THEMSELVES AND IT JUST CONSUMES THEIR LIFE COMPLETELY. PEOPLE LIEK TO WORK FOR 12 TO 18 HOURS A DAY. ADDITONALLY BECAUSE OF COMPETITION AND DREAD OF BEING LAYED OUT BY COMPANIES FORCES THEM TO PUSH THERE LIMITS AND WORK HARD THUS IN THIS PROCESS PEOPLE FORGET TO CHERISH LIFE OUTSIDE THE WORK.
HOWEVER , SOME PART OF SOCIETY UNDERSTANDS THE IMPORTANCE OF WORK LIFE BALANCE THUS THEY ARE MORE ENTHISISTIC ABOUT THERE WELL BEING . FOR INSTANCE COUNTRIES LIKE FRANCE HAVE 4 DAYS OF WORKING AS THEY KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING WELL MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY . PEOPLE OF FRANCE SPEND TIME WITH THERE OWN PEOPLE AND DO WHAT THEY LOVE TO BE MORE PRODUVTIVE IN LIFE. AND IT IS SEEN THAT PEOPLE WHO HAVE A WORK LIFE BALANCE ARE MORE CREATIVE AND GOOD AT THERE JOBS.
IN THE NUTSHELL, WE WORK SO THAT WE CAN LEAVE ACOMFORTABLE LIFE HOEVER IN THE JOURNEY PEOPLE FORGET THAT MOTO AND MAKE THERE WORK TERE LIFE. BOTH ARE INTEGRAL PART OF OUR LIVES AND IT SHOULD BALANCED ACCORDINGLY.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both perspectives regarding work and leisure, and includes a clear position in the conclusion. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For example, the first body paragraph presents relevant ideas regarding the pressure of competition and long hours, such as people working 12 to 18 hours a day, but this point could be extended with deeper analysis. Similarly, the second body paragraph introduces the example of France having a four-day work week to support the importance of work-life balance, but this claim remains somewhat generalized and lacks specific elaboration. While the main aspects of the prompt are covered, the development of these supporting points is uneven, preventing the response from reaching a higher level of task fulfillment.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The text presents a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct views, starting with an introductory outline, followed by body paragraphs for each perspective, and ending with a summary. However, cohesion at the sentence level is sometimes mechanical or faulty. The transitions rely on standard linking devices like 'TO COMMENCE WITH' and 'HOWEVER', and referencing is not always completely clear, such as in the opening paragraph's generalized phrasing. While the organizational structure guides the reader adequately through the arguments, the cohesive ties lack the flexibility and smooth progression seen in higher-band responses.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing a minimally sufficient range to convey basic arguments about work and hobbies. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'work life balance', 'productive', and 'cherish life', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and spelling. There are frequent lexical errors throughout the essay, including incorrect word forms like 'enthisistic' instead of enthusiastic, 'produvtive' instead of productive, and confusion with homophones or spellings such as 'there' instead of their, 'layed out' instead of laid off, and 'nuthell' instead of nutshell. Although these errors do not completely impede communication, they cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on a mix of simple sentences and a few attempts at complex forms. These attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to structural issues and run-on sentences, such as the opening compound sentence containing multiple clauses linked without proper punctuation. There are frequent grammatical errors involving subject-verb agreement, such as 'MAJOR PART OF SOCIETY CONSIDER' instead of considers, missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and persistent punctuation errors throughout the text. These errors require some effort from the reader to interpret the intended meaning, placing the grammatical control firmly within the expected parameters for this level.
