Student answer (Band 5.5)

Certain individuals argue that job is the most vital thing in life and take less part in other activities. Whereas, other think that hobbies and personal interest are more important. This essay will discuss both of this view points before concluding why later view point is far more valid.

There are two main reasons for who think work is the only important thing in life. The first reason for this is that only by doing work you gain in your career. If person is focused in their work so he find more opportunities in their career and by doing hard work he secure his future. The second most valid reason for this is you can make place in higher position. If you work hard and do your 100% than surely you can gain in your work place. For instance, one of my friends is very dedicated towards his job, so he got promotion and good designation in company. Despite this i disagree with this point, because i think you have to take a time for youself and enjoy the life.

However, other think that hobbies and personal interest is more vital. Primary reason is you can relax your mind by doing your hobbies and task that you are intrested. By doing your favorite task you can fill free and stress less and you can perform batter in your hobbies. The second reason is by following your intrest you make good image in society. If you follow your hobbies then you can master in that and it will give you fame and money both. The best example of this is one influencer who makes rangoli very good and realistic, so she chose to follow her hobby she makes rangolis and post photos of rangolis on social media. Now she is make very good money and her followers are in millions. All, this reason I agree with you have to follow your dreams, hobbies and personal intrest.

In conclusion, both have their own positive points but in my opinion I must say we have to follow our dreams.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both attitudes towards work and leisure, and a clear personal position is presented in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the arguments supporting work-centric views and hobbies are introduced, some points remain under-developed or supported by overly simplistic examples, such as the friend who got a promotion or the social media influencer making rangolis. To move to a higher band, the ideas would need more extension, depth, and sophisticated academic justification rather than relying on brief personal anecdotes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear identifiable structure, including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct themes. Nevertheless, cohesion at times feels mechanical or repetitive, particularly with transitions like 'The first reason for this is' and 'The second most valid reason for this is'. Referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, as seen in the phrase 'why later view point'. Progression is present, but smoother transitions and a more varied use of cohesive devices are required to achieve a higher level of logical flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'dedicated towards', 'designation', and 'influencer'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form. Examples include 'job is the most vital thing' instead of 'work', 'other think' instead of 'others think', 'take a time for youself', 'fill free', and 'intrest'. Spelling errors such as 'batter' for 'better' and 'intrest' occur throughout the text. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to construct multi-clause sentences. However, there are frequent errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples include missing plural markers or incorrect verb forms such as 'If person is focused', 'so he find', 'you can make place in higher position', 'Now she is make very good money', and 'All, this reason I agree with you have to follow'. While these errors rarely completely obscure the meaning, their persistence across various structures prevents the writing from reaching a higher band.
