Student answer (Band 5.0)

A few people give importance to our work in life as compare to extra curricular activites. However, mostly people interested in their hobbies and spend time with these activities rather than jobs. From my perspective, work is important for life because people can earn to his work. Normally life cannot survive without work. On the otherhand, in free time we spend time to our hobbies.

Mostly people can work for earning that is the basic need. People can work for their families. Some are not having to any other activities. They give time to their job. Job time almost 9 to 5. Individuals not have time after 5pm. They are very tired at that time. Futermore, individuals give importance becasue they protect their families. if they could not work how the whole family survive. That is the main reason.

However, few people are more concerning about their hobbies. They love to spend time with them. It is our part of life. People can enjoy in their hobbies. Some people are tired but they hear a sound of their hobbies they sudden active. For instance, People can go out for work and back to our house in night. They are very tired. They love to read books. In night, they read books beacuse they give time to their hobby. That is the main reason for spend time with their hobbies.

For my perspective, work is very important but they cannot hide their hobbies. Individuals firstly give time to their work for survived. Seondly give time to their hobbies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, which places it at this level. You attempted to discuss both attitudes regarding work and hobbies, and you expressed a personal opinion at the end of the essay. However, your ideas remain limited and under-developed. For example, when you mention that 'people can earn to his work' and that 'individuals give importance becasue they protect their families,' these points are stated simply without being fully elaborated with clear examples or detailed explanations. Furthermore, your position is not always clearly maintained throughout the text, as the progression of arguments is rather disjointed. To reach a higher level, you need to ensure that both views are explored in greater depth with fully extended arguments, and your own perspective should be woven more clearly throughout the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion rather than just briefly touched upon at the end.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation present in your essay, such as dividing your response into paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression throughout the text. While you attempt to use transitional markers like 'However' and 'For instance,' cohesive devices are often inaccurate, repetitive, or inadequate for guiding the reader smoothly through your arguments. For instance, transitioning between sentences often feels abrupt, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as when pronouns like 'them' are used without a clear antecedent in sentences like 'They love to spend time with them.' Additionally, paragraphing is somewhat basic. To improve, you should focus on creating a logical flow between ideas by using a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices, ensuring each paragraph has a clear central topic, and establishing a smoother progression from your introduction through your body paragraphs to your final conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary range is limited, though it remains minimally adequate for the task. You rely heavily on basic and repetitive words, such as 'work,' 'life,' 'time,' 'hobbies,' and 'tired,' which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. There are also noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form throughout the essay, such as writing 'as compare to' instead of 'compared to,' 'mostly people' instead of 'most people,' and 'concerning' instead of 'concerned.' Furthermore, spelling slips like 'Futermore,' 'becasue,' 'survived' instead of 'survival,' and 'Seondly' occur. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and impede the natural flow of your writing. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate a wider variety of less common lexical items, pay closer attention to collocations and word forms, and carefully check your spelling before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences. When you do attempt more complex sentence forms, they are frequently faulty and contain noticeable errors. For example, you struggle with subject-verb agreement and prepositional patterns, as seen in phrases like 'mostly people interested in' and 'spend time to our hobbies.' There are also issues with pronoun usage, such as 'earn to his work' and 'back to our house in night.' Frequent errors in verb tenses, articles, and sentence construction cause difficulty for the reader and obscure your meaning at times. To move up to a higher band, you need to demonstrate greater control over a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, ensure your clauses are connected accurately, and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors by reviewing your sentence formation and punctuation.
