Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people regard work as the most important thing in life and have a little interest in anything else such as the hobbies games. But the other people are more enthusiastic about their hobbies like gardening walking and leisure interests than their jobs and daily work. In my knowledge hobbies are important to life they can be give us more happiness.

First, some people respect work they asked the work is important in the life. The life can unsuccessful without the work. such individuals people work all the day and night and think only jobs and another type of work give us happiness. For example, there are many people in our society they can be work hard all the day and some people also work at night. Own my ideas, this type of people think life can boring without work and therefore, they also be work day at night.

On the other hand some people say life can be unhappy without any hobbies. This kind of person think that hobbies are more important in all the life. For example my hobby is gardening I like gardening because I am very found of flowers, plants therefore, I like gardening. Every person has there favorite hobby. For example some people like the games some like waking and wood crafting. I think hobbies are very important in our life but work and jobs are crucial because the person get success they are numerous to work hard

In my opinion, both work and hobbies are the vital in our life because the hobbies give more joyful in our life but the other side work is the one who give the success. Therefore, in my experience both are the important in our life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both attitudes by describing people who prioritise work and people who value hobbies, and you give a personal view that both matter. The gardening example makes your discussion more personal, while the conclusion restates your balanced position. However, the ideas are limited and often under-developed: the work-focused group is mainly described as working long hours, without explaining clearly why work is central to their lives or what benefits it brings. The hobbies paragraph also lists activities but gives little support beyond your own preference. Your position is present, though the reasons for it remain general. To strengthen the response, explain the motivations behind each attitude and develop each example with a clear consequence or supporting detail. The length requirement is met; 21 words copied from the task prompt were excluded from the count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two attitudes, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “First” and “On the other hand” help readers recognise the change in viewpoint. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and ideas are repeated rather than developed—for example, the work paragraph repeats that people work all day and at night. Connections between sentences are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as in “therefore, they also be work day at night,” and the hobbies paragraph moves from your gardening to other people’s interests without a clear link. Referencing is also unclear in places, such as “the one who give the success.” Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, then connect its explanation and example explicitly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the main contrast, including “work,” “hobbies,” “gardening,” “success,” and “enthusiastic.” There are also attempts to express evaluation, such as “crucial” and “vital.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes meaning less clear. Examples include “a little interest” where the intended meaning appears to be little or no interest, “found of flowers” for “fond of flowers,” and “more joyful” where “more enjoyment” would fit. “Games” and “walking” are repeated as examples without much variety. Build a more precise range for discussing motivation and benefits, such as job security, personal fulfilment, relaxation, and work-life balance, and check spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a conditional idea in “The life can unsuccessful without the work” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include missing or incorrect verb forms (“they also be work”), subject–verb agreement (“the hobbies give”), and article or plural problems (“the hobbies are the vital”). Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention: “The life can unsuccessful without the work. such individuals…” begins a new sentence incorrectly, while several long sentences run ideas together. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add clauses using “because,” “although,” and “which.” Check that every clause has a correctly formed verb and that sentence openings and endings are punctuated consistently.
