Student answer (Band 6.5)
A group of individual sees their professions as the crucial thing in life, whereas another set of people are more enthusiatic in their hobbies and leisure than their jobs. I firmly believe that, people have to show more importance towards their work, simultaneously have to spend time for their hobbies and leisure as well.
On the one hand, being more focused and showing importance to the profession can help an individual to build a steady career and prosperus in life. Prioritizing work often lead to a progress for an individual such as they can get a promotion, salary hike, bonus and get a good frame among the other employees. Individual who view work as their main priority often derive personal identity and self-worth directly from their achievements in the workplace. In highly competitive industries, such as medical and law requires a intense commitment to achieve mastery and make meaningful contributions.
On the other hand, those who prioritize hobbies and leisure activities emphasize the importance of mental health and personal fulfillment beyond professional success. Engaging in creative or physical outlets allows individual to decompress, reduce burnout, and cultivate skills that are independent of employer expectations. Moreover, a life solely focused on employment can lead to isolation and physical strain. Prioritizing personal interests ensure a broader, more balanced life experience, fostering resilience and long-term happiness.
In my opinion, neither extreme is fully sustainable or ideal. Excessive devotion to employment can damage health and personal relationships, while completely neglecting professional responsibilities may result in financial instability. A balanced lifestyle- where professional tasks are performed wiht diligence but clear boundaries permit adequate time for personal passions allows individual to achieve both economic stability and personal contentment.
In conclusion, although strong dedication to work can yield financial and status based rewards, prioritizing leisure offers crucial psychological benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses both attitudes and gives a clear, consistent position: work deserves importance, but hobbies and leisure are also necessary. The two main perspectives are explained with relevant consequences, including career progress and identity on the work-focused side, and mental health, reduced burnout, and personal fulfillment on the leisure-focused side. The conclusion reinforces the balanced view. These ideas are extended with examples such as promotion and salary increases, although some support remains general rather than specific; for instance, the references to competitive medical and legal careers are not developed further. To strengthen the response, explain one example in more detail and connect it explicitly to the argument about how much importance work should receive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall progression: an introduction states the position, two body paragraphs discuss the contrasting attitudes, and the conclusion restates the balanced view. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In my opinion” make the structure easy to follow, while ideas within each paragraph generally develop in a logical order. Some linking is a little formulaic, and the final paragraph largely repeats the central balance rather than drawing the discussion together in a more developed way. The sentence beginning “A balanced lifestyle” is also difficult to follow because its long construction lacks clear punctuation around the inserted explanation. Use more varied transitions and divide or punctuate longer sentences to make relationships between ideas even clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for discussing work, leisure, and wellbeing, and the response attempts some less common expressions, including “personal identity,” “decompress,” “employer expectations,” and “financial instability.” These choices help convey the main ideas, but several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision. Examples include “a good frame” for workplace reputation, “showing importance to the profession,” and “prosperus.” “Enthusiastic in their hobbies” is also an awkward collocation. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this would make the argument sound more fluent and precise without changing its meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex structures, including contrast clauses (“whereas another set of people…”) and a conditional construction (“while completely neglecting professional responsibilities may result…”). Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “Prioritizing work often lead” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “allows individual” and “ensure a broader” need plural or article adjustments. The construction “such as medical and law requires” also has problems with sentence structure and agreement. Punctuation around the dash in “lifestyle- where…” makes the sentence harder to parse. Review agreement, articles, and punctuation, and simplify long sentences when needed to maintain control.
