Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people thinks work is the most important thing is life and have less interst in anything else while others are more intersted with their hobbies and leisure intersts with thier jobs. Many people are giving importance to their job for several reasons whereas others prefer hobbies like business.

To begin with, many people give importance to their job because of their family responsibilites. To explain, for a family many people work long hours doing night shifts and loose interst for different things. For example in pakistan people work 12 hours a day and barelly have time for something else.

younger generation prefer work to secure their future. In addintion, young people thinks for better future they have to spend their much time doing work rather than wasting time on different things so they can fullfill their future needs. For example young people in pakistan thinks in young age work hard to earn much money which can help them to rest in old age.

In the other hand, others gives importance to their hobbies such as traveling. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both attitudes: work is linked to family responsibilities and future security, while leisure is represented by travel. The examples about long shifts in Pakistan and young people saving for later life are relevant, and your opinion begins with “both are correct.” However, the response is incomplete: the final sentence stops at “both are correct with their,” so your position is not explained or supported. The discussion is also brief, with limited development of why people prioritise leisure or how the two attitudes might be balanced. The response is 224 words, below the required 250, which further limits the explanation. Develop each side with a clear reason and example, then complete and justify your own view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to reasons for prioritising work, then to leisure and an opinion. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these points, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “For example” signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression is not consistently clear: the second body paragraph begins with a lowercase “younger generation,” and the transition “In the other hand” is inaccurate. Some links are mechanical, while the final paragraph ends abruptly, leaving the conclusion and overall line of argument unfinished. Use accurate transitions, connect each example explicitly to its main point, and finish with a complete concluding statement that restates your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of topic vocabulary, including “family responsibilities,” “night shifts,” “secure their future,” “hobbies,” and “different cultures.” These choices make the main ideas generally understandable. However, the vocabulary is repetitive and several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “interst,” “barelly,” “imprtant,” and “taveling.” Some expressions are also unnatural or unclear, such as “hobbies like business” and “less interest to the jobs.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, for example, “take an interest in their jobs” or “pursue leisure activities.” A wider range of precise terms for work-life priorities would help you explain the contrast more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including explanations introduced by “because” and “so,” and the main meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “Some people thinks” should be “Some people think,” and “young people thinks” should be “young people think.” The phrase “for a family many people work” needs clearer grammatical framing, while “In my opinion both are correct with their” is incomplete and prevents the final idea from being understood. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check subject–verb agreement, sentence boundaries, and punctuation before submitting.
