Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, worklife balance is a matter of debate. While some argue that job or career is most crucial aspect of life, others give substantial importance to hobbies and leisure activities than jobs. However, I believe that balance among both activities is necessary to run the wheel of life.

On the one hand, proponents of work consider it as the most valuable element in life and do not pay attention to any other activities. The main reason is that with the continuous progress in the field of AI, many people have lost jobsaround the world. This resulted in competition among individuals for securing a well-paid job or continue the ongoing job. Due to this, people in many countries are working for long hours to ensure the reliability of their life. Moreover, job is of paramount importance for individuals, as inflation is rising rapidly. Therfore, to combat financial conditions, people give priority to jobs in comparison to any other activity.

On the other hand, critics are more passionate about their hobbies than their jobs. On of the major reasons is that hobbies are a source of relaxation and sometimes entertainment for people. People often feel stressed after long working hourse and their physical health also suffers. Due to these concerns, people feel concious and allocate more time for such activitesas compared to job.

However, I believe that balanced time should be given to both job and leisure activities as they are equally essential for the wellbeing of people. The imbalance among the both will lead towards both mental and physical health.

To conclude, although some regard job as their first priority, others are more enthusiastic about leisure activities. Nevertheless, In my opinion, both activities are equally important to sustain a properous life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both attitudes and state a clear view: “balance among both activities is necessary,” which is maintained in the conclusion. The two body paragraphs also give relevant reasons, including financial pressure and the restorative value of hobbies. However, some points are only briefly explained. For example, the link between AI-related job losses and people working long hours is asserted rather than clearly shown, and the discussion of leisure does not include a specific example or explain how hobbies improve wellbeing. The final claim that imbalance affects “both mental and physical health” is also unclear in its wording. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or example, and make the comparison between the two attitudes more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two attitudes, your opinion, and a conclusion. “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” make the main stages easy to follow, and the reader can identify your position. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some stronger control through clear paragraphing and progression. However, the opinion paragraph is separated from the discussion of leisure without a clear transition, and several links are mechanical or unclear, such as “Due to these concerns” and “The imbalance among the both.” Consider integrating your opinion into the relevant discussion and using more precise references to connect each reason to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “paramount importance,” “inflation,” “competition,” and “wellbeing,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “proponents” and “allocate more time.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “give substantial importance to hobbies … than jobs,” “reliability of their life,” and “lead towards both mental and physical health.” Spelling and word-form slips, including “Therfore,” “hourse,” “concious,” and “activitesas,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations such as “place greater importance on,” “financial security,” and “have negative effects on health,” and proofread carefully for spelling and spacing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses beginning “While,” “as,” and “although.” Most sentences communicate the intended point, and the overall meaning remains clear. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “job or career is most crucial aspect” needs an article before “most crucial aspect,” while “the imbalance among the both will lead towards both mental and physical health” has an unclear structure and missing meaning after “lead to.” The phrase “people feel conscious and allocate” also needs a clearer grammatical relationship between the ideas. Review article use and build complex sentences around a complete, clearly expressed main clause; this will improve accuracy without sacrificing variety.
