Student answer (Band 5.5)

There has been an growing debate regarding whether people consider work as vital thing in life or should be more enthusiastic about their hobbies and leisure interests than their jobs. Some individuals believe that work is more important than anything else, while other argue that hobbies and leisure interest must be essential for life. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my opinion.

On the one hand, proponents of work as a most important thing believed that in life we should do work hard day -in and day -out to become financially stable. While, it is true that without any occupation individuals cannot be able to improve their standrad of life. Moreover, people dont take their job for guranteed instead they put their consistence efforts to achieve their desired goals.Such people spend their whole life in doing business and dont give proper time to themselves and also to their family. A particularly good example of this businessman always remain busy in their work and dont have quality time for their children as a result their kids may become rude and frustrated. Because working people dont take interest in any other activity and always give priority to their work.

On the other hand, critics contend that hobbies are more necessary for healthy life. Such people spend their time in different activities such as listening music, reading, playing, and going outside with their friends and family because they believe that for being physically and mentally well-being we should take part in such activities. A group of such adults dont take even interest in their career and do nothing to make their life financially strong. It is more likely that they always depend upon others and dont escape from their comfort zone. For instance, youngsters after completing their education waste their crucial time in unnecassary things and dont take their future life seroius. From my perspective, first viewpoint seems more convincing as we should invests our skills and ablities to live an independent life and to meet with our basic needs.

In conclusion, both views have their own merits and demerits . I believe that working life is much better than leisure one, as it is more beneficial and practical.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both attitudes and give a clear preference for work, especially in the final body paragraph and conclusion. The discussion includes relevant points: work can provide financial stability, while leisure can support physical and mental well-being. The examples about busy businesspeople and young people who neglect their future help illustrate the contrast. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that children may become “rude and frustrated” needs a clearer link to parents’ work commitments, and the leisure-focused viewpoint is partly represented through people who neglect their careers rather than through a balanced account of hobbies. Develop each side more evenly and explain why your preferred balance or priority is convincing. The 11 words copied from the prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two attitudes, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the main stages easy to follow. Within paragraphs, however, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “While, it is true…” is not smoothly attached to the preceding point, and “Because working people…” is left as a fragment rather than integrated into the explanation. Some references, such as “Such people,” are repeated and can make it less clear exactly which group is meant. Use linking phrases to show cause and contrast more precisely, and connect examples explicitly to the claims they support.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss employment and leisure, including “financially stable,” “desired goals,” “physically and mentally,” and “comfort zone.” These choices show an attempt to express a range of ideas. However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors sometimes make the wording difficult to process, as in “standrad,” “guranteed,” “consistence efforts,” and “seroius.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “take their job for guaranteed” and “going outside with their friends.” Repeated use of “people,” “work,” and “important” limits variety. Check spelling carefully, learn common word partnerships, and choose precise alternatives such as “employees,” “career,” or “leisure activities” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “as a result,” and “while,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some sentence structures are faulty, though, and punctuation sometimes obscures the relationships between ideas. For example, “While, it is true that…” is incorrectly punctuated and does not form a complete contrast with the previous sentence; “Because working people…” is also a fragment. There are errors in agreement and verb forms, such as “other argue,” “a group … dont,” and “we should invests.” Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check each sentence for a complete main clause, correct subject–verb agreement, and appropriate punctuation.
