Student answer (Band 5.5)

In life of some people, work is their first priority rather than anything else while, some people focus on their hobbies and free time activities rather than focusing on their work. In my perspective, it totally depends on you, that what you prefer more or what you want to focus on.

On the first hand, the people who focus on their work more than taking interest in other life activities, those people are more concern about their future, they want a stable lifestyle in which they can spend their life in their own way and can have every type of ease in their lives. Moreover, maybe these persons want to achieve their goals more successfully, however, continuous work may lead to stress so, its important to focus on other activities to make your mind relax and do more productive work. If an individual only take part in jobs and is not socially active it might have many impacts on their daily life. For instance, people may thing wrong about them that they don't like others are they are selfish and many more issues like this, other may consider them rude and their friend circle may reduce due to more reserved behavior because of focusing more on work.

On the other hand, people who spent more time on their habits, are the people with selflove they want them selves to be perfect in every way of their life. These kind of people want to enjoy everyday of the life by doing each kind of enjoyment instead of only making work their priority. Furthermore, people with the happy souls, are more likely to focus on their interests and enjoy leisure activities, such as people who spend more time on their hobbies may find the people who are like them they may have a great and big friend circle, moreover, they might knows how to be yourselves in every kind of situation.

In conclusion, i think that people who spend time on their hobbies are the coolest persons because they know what they want but only spending time on other activities may not help you to build your future so, its also important to give time to your jobs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both attitudes and give a personal view, so the response addresses the main parts of the task. The work-focused paragraph offers relevant reasons, including future stability and achieving goals, while the leisure-focused paragraph mentions enjoyment and meeting people with similar interests. However, these points are often asserted rather than explained with specific examples or evidence. The position is also not fully consistent: you initially say the choice depends on personal preference, but the conclusion calls hobby-focused people “the coolest” before adding that work is needed for the future. Clarify your overall view and develop each main reason with a concrete example, such as how balancing work and leisure affects wellbeing or career progress.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting the contrasting attitudes, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the first hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the structure. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from financial security to stress, then to how others may judge a reserved person, without clearly linking these points. Several sentences are overloaded with multiple ideas, and connectors such as “moreover” are repeated or used where the relationship between ideas is unclear. Organise each paragraph around one central reason, then explain and illustrate it. Clearer sentence boundaries and more precise referencing would make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “stable lifestyle,” “achieve their goals,” “stress,” “friend circle,” and “leisure activities.” This gives you enough language to communicate the general contrast. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “people with the happy souls,” “selflove,” “every type of ease,” and “be yourselves.” Repetition of “people,” “focus,” and “activities” also makes the writing less precise. Aim to use more natural collocations and vary key terms—for example, describe people as prioritising career advancement or personal fulfilment. Check spelling and word forms, including “themselves” and “know,” so that vocabulary choices do not distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “while,” “because,” and “who,” but complex structures are often not controlled accurately. For example, “the people who focus on their work more than taking interest … those people are more concern” has an awkward clause structure and incorrect agreement, while “they might knows” uses the wrong verb form. Errors with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also occur, as in “In life of some people” and the long sentence beginning “Furthermore, people with the happy souls.” These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them with accurate subordinate clauses; also check subject–verb agreement and punctuation during revision.
