You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many individuals believe that it's not important to follow hobbies and interests in the workplace while I believe that it is important to follow your hobbies in a limit.
the first and foremost point to follow your hobbies in the workplace is that it gives you a better chance to make a job interesting. to elaborate more a teacher job is to teach a subject but if he has passion about the subject, it can students to understand more because the teacher will explain those topics that are not present on the textbook but that are important for the Gornal knowledge. for an example a Mathes can use the real-life suctions to explain the topic more clearly like if a cholate is $5 how much well it cost you to buy 15 rather than what's 5x15.
on the other hand, it's really important in some perfections to the hobbies don't match with the job. in those cases, the hobbies should be kept a side while working. jest like a lot of Docters have a Hobbie to play chess but it's useless in the work they do so it doesn't make practical sense to follow your Hobbie in the hospital. so, the solution is that in such seniors is to follow your hobbies at your free time but not at the workplace.
in conclusion although hobbies can help in the job. if you have a work life in the same fields of your hobbies. but if it's not then hobbies should be kept a side while work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response gives a relevant opinion—that hobbies can support work when they relate to it, but should be kept separate when they do not—and offers examples involving a teacher and a doctor. However, it does not fully discuss the two attitudes in the prompt: the contrast between people who prioritise work and people who are more enthusiastic about leisure is reduced to whether hobbies are useful in the workplace. The teacher example is relevant but its explanation is unclear, while the doctor example mainly illustrates keeping a hobby outside work. The conclusion repeats the conditional view rather than resolving the broader comparison. To strengthen the response, explain why some people devote themselves to work, why others value leisure more, and develop a clear, consistent opinion about the balance between them.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The teacher and doctor examples also give the discussion some progression. Linking phrases such as “on the other hand” and “in conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, the overall progression is weakened because the paragraphs focus on hobbies in the workplace rather than clearly developing the two attitudes in the question. Some connections are difficult to follow, particularly “although hobbies can help in the job. if you have a work life in the same fields of your hobbies.” The opening sentence also does not clearly set up the contrast that follows. Make each paragraph’s main point explicit, connect examples directly to that point, and use complete, clearly linked sentences in the conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “passion,” “real-life situations,” “practical sense,” and “free time.” These choices help communicate the basic distinction between work and leisure. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts difficult to understand, such as “perfections” for professions, “Gornal knowledge,” and “seniors” where the intended meaning appears to be situations. Phrases such as “follow your hobbies in the workplace” are also repeated and do not precisely express the broader idea of prioritising work or leisure. Build a more accurate topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations. For example, use “pursue a hobby,” “work-related interests,” and “maintain a work–life balance” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to use complex structures, including “if he has passion about the subject” and the contrast introduced by “although,” as well as some simple sentences that communicate the main examples. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and punctuation frequently make the meaning harder to follow. For instance, “because the teacher will explain those topics … but that are important” has an unclear clause structure, while “it can students to understand more” is missing a necessary verb form. The conclusion contains a sentence fragment beginning “although hobbies can help in the job.” Use complete subject–verb structures, check articles and agreement, and punctuate sentence boundaries carefully. Practising accurate conditional and contrast clauses would help make the argument clearer.
