Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 2.5
The response shows awareness of the topic by introducing both attitudes: prioritising work and being more interested in hobbies and free time. However, it does not meaningfully discuss either view or give a developed personal opinion. The final sentence, “some people believe that the most important need in life is their work,” only repeats one side and provides no explanation, example, or evidence. The opening also promises to discuss both views and support them, but that discussion is absent. The response is substantially below the required 250 words, which leaves the task largely incomplete. To improve, explain why people may value work, why others prioritise leisure, and state and support your own position with relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence introduces the contrast, followed by a sentence announcing the discussion. The linking word “while” helps signal the difference between the two attitudes. However, the response does not develop into a clear sequence of ideas, and the final line is disconnected from the promised discussion rather than functioning as a supporting paragraph or conclusion. The opening repeats the task instructions instead of guiding the reader through an argument. Use separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and connect each point with clear references and transitions. This would create a more coherent progression rather than a short introduction followed by an isolated statement.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some relevant vocabulary, including “advantageous,” “interest,” “hobbies,” and “jobs,” so the topic is generally recognisable. There is also an attempt to paraphrase the prompt rather than copy it exactly. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “most advantageous aspect” does not clearly mean the most important part of life, and “free time interest” is not an idiomatic phrase. “Very less interest” is also an awkward expression, while “peole” is misspelled. The limited response provides little opportunity to show a broader range or precise control. Aim for natural collocations such as “a top priority,” “leisure activities,” and “take little interest in,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The opening sentence attempts a complex structure by contrasting two groups with “while,” and the meaning is mostly understandable. However, there are clear errors in agreement and sentence construction: “Some peole regards” should use a plural verb, and “other individual are” has a mismatch between the determiner, noun, and verb. The second sentence also strings together several purposes with “and” without developing them into a complete argument. The final line begins with a lowercase “some,” and its structure is incomplete as a developed sentence in context. Because the response is very short, there is little evidence of a range of sentence forms. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build complete, varied sentences around one clear idea at a time.
