Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people believe that work is the most important thing in life than anything else, while others think that hobbies and leisure intersts are more important. Although the management of work and leisure interests varies from person to person, In my opinion, work and personal interests should be balanced equally to live healthy life.

On the one hand, workers spend too much time on their worklife rather than on their personal interests because they love their work and their hobbies are also related to work itself. If individuals get some spare time, they think about new interventions or creations related to their proffession which brings joy to them as it is only area they are interested in. For instance, a musician who loves music, even he is vacation or holidays he thinks of inspirations for lyrics or tone as it is natural for them as they love their field.

In addition, some individuals are bored in their free time as there only interest lies in their work they do. as a consequence they simply end up doing what they actually enjoy, even if they are addressed as workholic.

On the other hand, some people think that life is too short and there are more to explore in life. people are enthusiastic to try different activities and enjoy annual vacations in order to unwind themselves from their worklife. For example, it is often believed that switching from work life and spending time for ourselves increases productivity and happiness. As a result, hobbies and other personal activities plays a major role in happiness.

In conclusion, eventhough people have different interest and according to that they tend to spend their leisure time, I believe that balanced approach can lead to healty lifestyles.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both attitudes in the prompt and state a clear opinion: “work and personal interests should be balanced equally.” The two body paragraphs also remain relevant, with examples such as the musician who continues thinking about music during holidays and people using vacations to unwind. However, the discussion is unevenly developed. The work-focused view receives several explanations, while the leisure-focused view is supported mainly by a general claim about productivity and happiness. Your conclusion repeats the balanced position but does not explain why this approach is preferable. Develop the second viewpoint with a specific reason or example, and make the comparison behind your own opinion more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two attitudes, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the contrast, and the examples are placed with the relevant ideas. Some connections are less smooth, however. The second sentence of the first body paragraph shifts from spare time to work-related creativity without clearly explaining the link, and “In addition” introduces an idea that partly repeats the point that work-focused people enjoy their jobs. The conclusion also restates the position rather than drawing the discussion together. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and vary transitions so that the progression feels less formulaic.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “spare time,” “unwind,” “productivity,” and “enthusiastic,” which helps communicate the topic. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “inspirations for lyrics or tone.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “worklife,” “new interventions,” “addressed as workholic,” and “healthy lifestyles.” Spelling errors such as “intersts,” “proffession,” and “healty” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main ideas, but they limit precision. Choose more natural topic phrases and check spelling carefully; for example, use “professional ideas” rather than “new interventions” in this context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although the management … varies” and a conditional clause beginning “If individuals get some spare time.” The main meaning is generally clear, but some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation remain. For example, “even he is vacation or holidays he thinks” needs a grammatical clause such as “even when he is on vacation, he thinks”; “activities plays” has a subject–verb agreement error; and “to live healthy life” is missing an article. Capitalisation after full stops is also inconsistent. Review these patterns and proofread sentence boundaries, while continuing to use varied structures.
