Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You introduce both attitudes and state a relevant opinion: “people should maintain a balanced life.” You also begin to explain why work matters, linking employment with money, security, and supporting a family. However, the response stops before discussing the other attitude or developing your own view, so the task is addressed only minimally. The example about buying a house is also unfinished and does not yet show how this supports the argument. The required minimum length is not met: the response contains 77 words rather than at least 250. To improve, discuss both perspectives in separate, developed paragraphs, explain your position with reasons, and support each main point with a complete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces the two views, and “on the one hand” signals the start of a supporting point. This gives the reader some indication of direction. However, the response ends during that point, so there is no progression to the contrasting attitude or a conclusion. The transitions “both views have different sides” and “but I believe” are also separated by full stops and do not create a smooth connection. Develop a clear sequence—introduction, one paragraph for each attitude, your evaluation, and a conclusion—and use linking phrases to show how each idea relates to the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “work,” “hobbies,” “leisure activities,” “security,” and “successful career.” These terms make the general subject clear. However, the range is narrow because the response is very short, and several choices or spellings reduce accuracy: “gaive attention” is unclear, “with good condition” is not a natural phrase for a house, and “a land” is not the intended form in this context. Aim for more precise expressions such as “prioritise their careers,” “financial security,” and “buy a well-maintained home.” Proofread spelling and word forms, and use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary as you develop both sides of the discussion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response includes simple statements and an attempt at a more developed sentence, such as “because work can provide money and security.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and punctuation are evident. For example, “both views” begins a sentence without a capital letter, “other prefer” lacks agreement, and “A successful career help” uses the wrong verb form. The final phrase, “purchase a land,” also shows an article/plural problem. Use complete sentences with consistent capitalisation and punctuation, and check subject–verb agreement and articles. Building a few accurate complex sentences, rather than extending fragments, will help you express the argument more clearly.
